Revised August 11, 2019
It’s Christmas time and we have decided to buy some good family games for our kids this year. Why? Because I’m tired of buying toys for them! Don’t get me wrong, I love giving them gifts. It’s just that they already have so many toys that they forget what they have! How many toys do they really need?
Special Good Family Game Memories
Growing up my family was really into all sorts of card and board games. I think our love for games came from spending many summers at our family’s camp in Maine. After dinner, all the grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins played games together late into the night. One of my dad’s cousins was always into discovering new games that weren’t yet popular. Each year we wondered what the new games would be as he always found the fun ones.
Good Family Games Make Great Gifts!
This year I’m going to just get our kids games, books or puzzles (little G loves puzzles). They really like to play games, so why not? They get much more use than toys anyway and it’s such a great way to spend time together as a family. Many games are also educational so why not develop their critical thinking and strategy skills in a fun way?
Our Favorite Good Family Games
Since buying gifts can be challenging, I thought I’d make a list of games my family has enjoyed that would make great presents for kids and adults (The links to each are included). Some you may have heard of before but we like them so much that I just couldn’t resist adding them to the list.
